Ann Fisher-Wirth, Wilfred Raussert, and 4W International Women Collective Translation Circle

Ann Fisher-Wirth’s eighth book is Into the Chalice of Your Thoughts, a poetry/photography collaboration with Wilfried Raussert. Her seventh book is Paradise Is Jagged and her fifth, a poetry/photography collaboration with Maude Schuyler Clay, is Mississippi. With Laura-Gray Street, she coedited The Ecopoetry Anthology and is coediting Volume II. A senior fellow of the Black Earth Institute, Ann has had Fulbrights to Switzerland and Sweden, and numerous poetry residencies. Her awards include the 2023 Governor’s Award for Excellence in Poetry from the Mississippi Arts Commission. She retired in 2022 from the University of Mississippi.

Wilfried Raussert is a multidisciplinary artist and scholar whose current artistic project is Into the Chalice of Your Thoughts. He works across the boundaries of music, literature, photography, art and literary criticism. He is chair of North American and Inter-American Studies at Bielefeld University, Germany. He is director of the International Association of Inter-American Studies, and author and editor of twenty scholarly books, including Art Begins in Streets Art Lives in Streets, Cultural Memory and Multiple Identities, and Traveling Sounds: Music, Migration, and Identity in the U.S. and Beyond.

The 4W International Women Collective Translation Circle at the University of Wisconsin-Madison convenes scholars from across disciplines and institutions as part of a collaborative translation praxis. It aims to make texts and related ideas that are only available in Spanish also accessible in English—and vice versa—to benefit writers and readers around the world.
